RoGBC Policy Initiatives

This section includes a summary of the activities undertaken by the Policy Advocacy Task Group within the Romania Green Building Council.

What are the objectives of the Policy Advocacy Task Group?

This Task Group's activities focus on four main tracks. The Group is committed to:

 

Facilitate the dialogue between the construction and related sectors and government, to create a regulatory framework that fosters the development of a sustainable built environment

 

Work with government, industry and all concerned to remove barriers to adoption of sustainable building products, technologies and practices through the implementation of real government and market incentives

 

Participate at public work-groups and public consultations on relevant public policy issues (Environmental Technologies Action Plan, sustainable construction workgroup)

 

Establish relations with relevant government agencies and decision makers
Define, draft and propose public policy recommendations

Priorities identified for action in 2014 include:

 

Promoting Green Financial Structures and Incentives to promote sustainable real estate and contruction (e.g. Property Tax reductions for Green Buildings, Green Mortgage, etc.)

 

Providing stakeholder input to a National Renovation Strategy

 

Preparation for Europe's 2020 Strategy requiring "Nearly Zero Energy Buildings", substantive reductions in Construction Waste, and transparency in materials toxicity and other significant changes in building policy
