The Green Finance Task Group was established by the Romania Green Building Council (RoGBC) in 2013. The group aims to promote the integration of sustainability principles into the financial sector and drive the development of green financing mechanisms. The group works with stakeholders, including banks, investors, and policy-makers, to promote sustainable investments and improve access to green finance.

One of the notable initiatives of the Green Finance Task Group is the development of green mortgages, which are offered by several banks in Romania. These mortgages incentivize the purchase of green homes by offering preferential interest rates or other benefits to borrowers. The green mortgages have been introduced by several banks, including Raiffeisen Bank, Alpha Bank, Libra Bank, BCR, Banca Transilvania, BRD, Garanti Bank, Vista Bank, ProCredit Bank.

Through its initiatives, the Green Finance Task Group is contributing to the development of a more sustainable built environment in Romania, reducing the environmental impact of buildings and promoting a more sustainable economy.
