BIM for Green Buildings - Energy simulation
Location : online
From: Wednesday 16 March 2022, 15:00
To: Wednesday 16 March 2022, 16:00

This course is one of the optional courses for those who want to obtain the "Green Building Professional" certificate.

The construction sector is responsible for most of the use of raw materials, around 40% worldwide (according to DE 2009/31 / EC), so reducing the carbon footprint can be a huge challenge for experts in the field. Architectural concepts and popular building technologies today allow architects to easily design buildings with low environmental impact, but we have a clearly superior method of building responsibly, a method based on conscious decisions: Building Information Modeling (BIM).

Defined as parametric modeling for the digital representation of the physical and functional characteristics of the building, BIM is the key to preventing waste in construction, losses resulting from a faulty design. In other words, the architect has an important role to play in supporting the reduction of waste through careful design of the finite nature of resources.

Success is achieved by the entire team involved in the construction and management of the building - beneficiary, designers, builders and operators - everyone's adherence to the BIM process is absolutely necessary.

We invite you to participate in our course for a BIM work demonstration, through which we aim for a realistic and successful practice to accelerate the change in the way we build the world in which we live.

Course highlights:

Basic steps in project creation, an integral part of the BIM model. Use of assistants to increase work efficiency and manage quantity reports.
Analysis of the study of sunshine for the optimal use of natural lighting in the exploitation of spaces.
Energy simulation for various thermal areas for a residential building.
AS-BUILT documentation and digital construction technical book. Fast and intelligent management of the attributes of construction elements.

For more theoretical references on the energy analysis of a building, see the Treatise on Thermal Engineering - Thermotechnics in Construction, Volume 1 and Volume 2, as well as the work Climate Resilience and Energy and Environmental Performance of Collective Residential Buildings.

This course takes place over 3 weeks in which students can work whenever they have time, the complete materials being on the platform. The question and answer sessions are live and take place according to the schedule below.

Q&A session schedule:

- 09.03.2022 between 15:00 - 16:00 - Architectural model and sun studies
- 16.03.2022 between 15:00 - 16:00 - Energy simulation
- 23.03.2022 between 15:00 - 16:00 - Attributes and cost indicator. BIMPLUS
