Speaker: Elena Raștei LEED | BREEAM Assessor

Elena Rastei is an environmentalist and sustainability specialist with expertise in sustainability and green building certification systems including LEED and BREEAM at both national and international levels.

For the past five years, she has delivered training for Romania Green Building Council's (RoGBC) Green Building Professional program teaching the Green Building Certification course.  Elena was a lecturer between 2011 and 2013 for the "Sustainable Buildings" course within the CPADDD postgraduate program at the Technical University of Cluj Napoca.

Elena is a current member of the Board of Directors of the Romania Green Building Council and is leading the Certification and Education Task Groups.  Her work with the Certification Task Group, in partnership with the Policy Advocacy Task Group is responsible for the development of the Property Tax Deductions for Green Buildings program adopted by Cluj Napoca and Timisoara in Romania.  In addition, she has been instrumental in developing and pilot testing the criteria for RoGBC's Green Mortgage program: an open-source financial tool for the banking industry that rewards green home purchases with lower mortgage interest rates.

Her academic background includes a BA and interdisciplinary master studies in Sustainability & Environmental Management, Architecture & Engineering.The main focus of her research work includes biomimicry, circular economy and resilient communities.
