nZEB (nearly Zero-Energy Buildings)

This course is a required course for those seeking the "Green Building Professional" certification.

NOTE - The course will be online.  All registered participants will be sent the necessary link.

Course Objectives:

Definition of nZEB in relation to the green building / sustainable building;

The legal framework in the field of energy performance of buildings - EU (European directives) and the national regulatory framework;

Principles of building an nZEB type building:
        Very well insulated building envelope,
        Construction without thermal bridges,
        Air tightness,
        Solar inputs through windows,
        Ventilation with heat recovery,
        Use of energy from renewable sources.

Criteria for conforming the building envelope to achieve performance levels for nZEB;

Certification of the energy performance of a building and Energy audit of a building: definition, purpose, utility, conditions of request and elaboration;

Minimum energy performance requirements for new and existing buildings

at the level of components,
        at the building level,
        particularities for new buildings and for existing buildings.

Initiatives to promote and nZEB buildings and prepare the market for implementation.

The prices for attending this course are:

Dr. Ing. Cătălin Lungu

EDUCATION
•    PhD in Civil Engineering (2004) at the Technical University of Civil Engineering from Bucharest with specialized training at the Paris XII Val de Marne University, France;
•    Master in Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Civil Engineering from Bucharest (1996) and the Paris XII Val de Marne University, France (1998);
•    Bachelor Degree in economics (2000) at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies.


CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Mr. Lungu is Associate Professor at the Technical University of Civil Engineering (www.utcb.ro) and visiting professor at Ecole Nationale Superieure de l’Energie, l’Eau et l’Environment ENSE 3 (France). He is/was involved in teaching activities at the Military Technical Academy in Bucharest, respectively at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies.
He is First Vice-President of the Romanian Association of Building Services Engineers (www.aiiro.ro), and REHVA vice-president and treasurer since May 2017. In April 2021 he was elected as the next REHVA President for the mandate 2022-2025 (www.rehva.eu).  Since 2009 he is the committee organizing chair of the Romanian Conference on Energy Performance of Buildings (www.rcepb.ro). Since 2013 he is the managing director of the Romanian Chamber of Energy Auditors (www.oaer.ro) and the main organizer of training and life-long learning courses for Romanian energy auditors.
He was deputy-dean of the Building Services Engineering Faculty (2016-2020), and Senate member of the Technical University of Civil Engineering (2012-2020). Dr. Lungu was the organizing committee chair of the REHVA HVAC World Congress CLIMA 2019 (2016-2019) and the personal counselor of the Romanian Minister for European Funds (2016).
He is/was project director of 3 research projects and member in 4, including the national project for recasting the national methodology for the calculation of the energy performance of buildings, according to the new set of EPB standards. He is also member of 6 standardization technical committees (5 ASRO and 1 ISO).
As main author or co-author, Dr. Lungu has been publishing 6 books and more than 50 scientific or technical articles.
